How to Take a Screenshot on Your iPad Without Home Button

  • Navigate to the screen you want to capture
    Open the webpage, app, video, or content you wish to screenshot.
  • Locate the Power and Volume buttons
    The Power button is on the top-right edge, and the Volume buttons are on the left side of your iPad.
  • Press the Power and Volume buttons together
    Press and hold the Power button and either Volume Up or Volume Down button simultaneously.
  • Screenshot is captured
    Your screen will flash, indicating that the screenshot has been taken.
  • Access the screenshot preview
    A small preview appears in the bottom-left corner:
    • Tap the preview to edit the screenshot.
    • Swipe left to save it directly to your Photos app.

How to Take a Screenshot on Your iPad With a Home Button

  • Navigate to the screen you want to capture
    Open the content you’d like to screenshot.
  • Locate the Power and Home buttons
    The Power button is on the top-right, and the Home button is at the bottom center of your iPad.
  • Press the Power and Home buttons together
    Hold both buttons simultaneously.
  • Screenshot is captured
    The screen will flash to confirm the screenshot.
  • Access the screenshot preview
    Like newer models, a preview will appear in the bottom-left corner:
    • Tap to edit.
    • Swipe left to save it directly.

  • You can find the screenshot in your photos – albums – screenshot
  • You can quickly save a screenshot with a swipe left on the preview in the bottom-left corner to save it directly to your Photos app.
